The International Technical Tropical Timber Association (ATIBT) is a non-political NGO that represents the interests of more than 200 direct members throughout some 39 countries, members include:
- Worldwilde national producer and importer federations
- International organisations such as the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the International Tropical Timber Association (ITTO) and the African Timber Organisation (ATO)
- Tropical forestry and timber related research institutes, Universities and consultants
- Tropical forestry and timber processing companies
- Tropical timber service and equipment providers (forwarding agents, shipping lines, machine manufactures)
The ATIBT plays a leading and recognised role in the dialogue leading to the proposition and implementation of pragmatic solutions for the promotion of the sustainable management of the tropical forest resource, increased local value added transformation and the world consummation of tropical timber products.
Therefore, the ATIBT is an international network of contacts, a source of up to date information and a renowned gage of competence and of deontology.
