ATIBT’s Structure

The ATIBT is organised in the following manner in order to tackle the different and diverse questions relative to the tropical timber industry as best as possible and respond to the technical needs of the profession :

A structure responsible for the associations political decisions comprising :

A Board of Administrators composed of 9 members representing :

- International Organisations : 1 Administrator
- Research/University/Consultants : 1 Administrator
- Commerce/Services : 2 Administrators
- Forest/Industry : 5 Administrators

The Board of Directors is responsible for electing a President for a renewable term of two years.

A general secretariat based in Paris assures the daily animation of the association.

A technical structure devised into 4 commissions :

- Forestry
- Wood and Industry
- Standards and Rules
- Transport

Each commission is overseen by a chairman who is helped in his tasks by several commission members originating from the profession itself.

A Scientific and Technical committee providing scientific and technical advice, and acting as the associations deontological reference.

An Arbitration chamber (AC) composed of experts who assure the evolution and respect of commercial regulations of the profession. The AC assures expert timber evaluations as required and the ATIBT graders and experts examinations in both tropical timber producing and importing countries.
