Rougier continues its withdrawal from industrial activities in Gabon

18.06.2021

As part of the implementation of its strategic refocusing announced in its latest press releases, ROUGIER announces the withdrawal of ROUGIER GABON from its industrial plywood manufacturing activity located in Owendo (Gabon).

Following negotiations with a group of European industrialists, it has been concluded:

  • A promise to sell the Owendo plant by December 31, 2021 at the latest, after payment of a deposit in the event of non-fulfillment;
  • The concession of the Owendo plant effective since the end of May 2021 to the purchaser in return for a monthly fee until the effective date of transfer;
  • The signature of a multi-annual supply contract for FSC-certified okoumé logs.

At the same time, in response to the overall needs of the Gabonese market, ROUGIER GABON will increase its FSC-certified forestry production in the second half of the year.

ROUGIER, through its subsidiary ROUGIER AFRICA INTERNATIONAL, continues to market certified okoumé plywood in Europe from an industrial partner based in GABON, with whom it has signed exclusive multi-annual supply agreements for FSC-certified logs, as well as commercial and technical partnerships.
