The origins of AEIM date back to 1957, when the "National Group of Wood Importers" was set up and began its activity related to the import trade of tropical wood.

The main objectives of the association are :

  • To defend the interests of its members, to promote commercial activities that guarantee a fair and ecologically responsible international timber trade.
  • To promote the responsible consumption of wood as a natural, renewable and sustainable product.

The services offered by the association are diverse and concern the promotion of the use of wood, the visibility of members, technical assistance, environmental issues and information.

The association is a member of ETTF. Meetings between ATIBT and AEIM are regular.

AEIM currently has about 120 members, from all regions of Spain.

For many years, the Secretary General of AEIM has been Mr Alberto Romero.
