Rougier has been established in Gabon since 1952, and through its Gabonese subsidiaries, manages nearly 880,000 ha of forest, amounting to the production of 300,000 m³ of logs per year. Rougier Gabon employs around 1,500 people.
In line with its voluntary policy of responsible forestry management, the group implements management plans in all of its concessions.
They address three levels of commitment: the preservation of the ecosystem and biodiversity, the social development of workers and their families and respect for local populations and traditional forestry practices.
This approach is a genuine management tool that allows harvesting to be carried out without affecting the forest’s regeneration capacity (average harvest: from 1 to 2 trees per ha every 25 years).
