RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

125 Broad Street, 9th Floor
New York, New York
USA, 10004

The Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization working at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests to make responsible business the new normal.

Working with forest communities, governments, companies, and civil society organizations, the Rainforest Alliance promotes sustainable community forest management practices throughout the tropics.

Rainforest Alliance and ATIBT signed a letter of intent in November 2022.

This agreement provides for interaction between the ATIBT and the Rainforest Alliance in the promotion of FSC certified timber from Central American community forests, the development of opportunities for sustainable community livelihoods in agroforestry landscapes at ATIBT member sites, including the development of non-timber forest products.

The agreement also aims to improve interaction between forest concessions and community forests, in order to make progress on "landscape" approaches, joint support for community forests to obtain FSC certification, and the identification of opportunities for joint advocacy to promote the enabling environment of community forestry.
