Olam Agri is a market-leading food, feed and fibre agribusiness with a global footprint and strong processing capabilities. Through our wholly owned subsidiary, Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB), we responsibly manage 2.1 million hectares of natural forest concessions in the Republic of Congo, certified to internationally recognised sustainable forest management standards.
We supply high-quality, fully traceable value-added wood products including scantlings, decking, and cladding as well as primary primary transformation products to customers in more than 30 countries.
We’re committed to strictly applying Reduced Impact Logging (RIL) techniques. We carefully plan every harvest and selectively fell only a small number of trees. We harvest at levels significantly below those permitted by national regulations - approximately one tree per hectare every 30 years. This approach makes it possible to reconcile resource continuity, ecosystem maintenance, and supply stability.
Our harvesting capabilities and processing expertise enable us to process a wide range of tropical timber species and manufacture logs and sawn timber in specifications tailored to our customers’ requirements. Our five sawmills have a capacity of 350,000 m³ of input logs, giving us one of the largest tropical timber processing capacities in Africa.
CIB stands out through its integrated value chain. With sawmills, kiln dryers and moulding facilities located within our concessions, we provide advanced traceability back to the individual tree, maintain control over product quality, and meet the growing international demand for compliance, consistency, and transparency.
Customers can have confidence that the timber we supply is responsibly and legally sourced. We also provide the information and traceability systems needed to support compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Beyond timber production, CIB plays a vital role in the development of the communities where it operates. We invest in hospitals, rural health clinics, education, WASH programmes and initiatives that support Indigenous communities. We also work closely with government authorities, international conservation organisations and research institutions to protect wildlife and preserve biodiversity.
