Long committed to FSC certification, CIB (Congolaise Industrielle des Bois), a subsidiary of Olam Agri, is taking a new step forward by introducing an integrated forest management model in the Congo Basin. In partnership with Kamba African Rainforest Experiences (ecotourism) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) (conservation), this model combines responsible forest operations, the development of ecotourism activities, and the co-management of protected areas.

This ambitious project is built on several key pillars:

  • Sustainably valuing forest resources while adhering to FSC standards.
  • Actively conserving biodiversity by protecting key areas within forest concessions.
  • Supporting local communities through employment, training, and involvement in new economic activities, notably through ecotourism.

Through this approach, CIB demonstrates that a balance between economic development and ecosystem conservation is achievable. This model, based on close collaboration between the private sector, NGOs, and local communities, could become a regional benchmark for sustainable forest management in Central Africa.
