Think Tank #5 : The 5th ATIBT Think Tank takes place next week

01.12.2022

The 5th ATIBT Think Tank will be held in Nogent-sur-Marne on December 7 and 8, 2022.

Organized in a hybrid format (it will be possible to participate in person in Nogent-sur-Marne, and by videoconference), Think Tank #5 will be held over two days.

Wednesday, December 7 will be devoted to carbon, on the theme "Giving value back to forests: Carbon finance and biodiversity", focusing on 5 sessions:

  • Overview of 2022
  • Biodiversity: Beyond carbon: how to value biodiversity in projects?
  • Project examples: What are the challenges for forest carbon projects and how have they been (or can they be) overcome?
  • Investors: What are investors looking for in a forest carbon project and what can we provide?
  • PPECF: What should we propose to KfW/COMIFAC in a PPECF 4th phase?

The Carbon & Biodiversity Commission, managed by the consultancies Terea and Eticwood, will lead these presentation and discussion sessions.

The following day, December 8, will continue a reflection that is always at the heart of the Think Tanks and the ATIBT marketing program: the issue of improving the image of certified tropical timber in Europe, and new markets.

Coordinated by the ATIBT team and Stratémark, the morning of December 8 will initiate a common reflection on the evolution of the Fair&Precious collective, after having addressed :

  • The films produced by IMAGEO within the framework of the Marketing program, with the screening of the first episode
  • The endorsement of the Congo Basin PAC by PEFC International
  • FSC Motion 23 on Intact Forest Landscapes

The afternoon of December 8 will explore new markets for tropical timber, looking at new regulations and opportunities. Under the coordination of Sarah Laroussi (CNDB), 5 presentations will be discussed:

  • Tropical timber and timber construction in Europe. Impact of the RE2020
  • Tropical timber and interior fittings
  • Tropical timber and exterior fittings in France today
  • Brief review of the Cites meeting in Panama and prospects for the concerned species
