Friday 18 June 2021 at 10am CET : Webinar on forest certification in Central Africa: focus on the PAFC Congo Basin

11.06.2021

The ATIBT invites you to a webinar on the PAFC Congo Basin on Friday 18 June 2021 at 10 AM (CET).

The central theme of the webinar will be sustainable forest management certification in the Congo Basin and, more specifically, the new regional sustainable forest certification system PAFC Congo Basin.

The objective is to clarify the use of forest certification as an effective traceability tool and to discuss the benefits of such an initiative. The webinar will address PAFC/PEFC certified timber's market recognition and conclude with the critical question: the steps to get certified.

The webinar, run in French, will feature Markus Pfannkuch, technical consultant for Precious Woods, Caroline Duhesme, deputy coordinator of the FLEGT-REDD projects and secretary of the Certification Commission for the ATIBT and Germain Yéné Yéné, coordinator of the PAFC Congo Basin project (Pan African Forest Certification). The three speakers will share their perspectives on each topic, offering a general vision of certification in the Congo Basin.

Precious Woods and PAFC join the ATIBT in welcoming all those interested in sustainable forest management in a tropical context.
