Over the past nine years, timber production has doubled in Gabon. According to data from the French Treasury, it has risen from 1.9 million m3 in 2012 to nearly 3.7 million in 2021.

With this data, Gabon is positioned as the country with the highest wood production in the Cemac zone in 2021, in connection with the special economic zone of Nkok.

Overall, the Cemac area records in 2021 a timber production estimated by the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) to 9.2 million m3 in 2021, up 51.6% from 2011 (respectively 3.7 million m3 for Gabon, 2.4 million m3 for Cameroon and 2.3 million m3 in 2021 - these three countries are the main producers of the Cemac).

The wood produced in Gabon is increasingly processed locally, since the decision to ban the export of wood in log form taken in 2010. And Gabon plans to become the world champion of processed wood by 2023.
