Tools for EUDR compliance: feedback on the ATIBT–LCB webinar

18.07.2025

On July 17, 2025, ATIBT co-organized with LCB (Le Commerce du Bois) a webinar in French dedicated to solutions and tools for compliance with the European Regulation on deforestation (EUDR).

This session, designed for a French-speaking audience, mainly composed of LCB members and French-speaking partners in the forestry and timber sector, brought together more than 70 participants. It aimed to provide a concrete overview of the tools available to meet the new requirements of the regulation: geolocation of production areas, due diligence, traceability, reporting, etc.

Overview of the solutions presented

The webinar focused on three families of tools:

  1. Certification systems and EUDR modules

Representatives from PEFC, FSC, and Preferred by Nature presented the adaptations currently being made or already implemented within their standards and services:

  • PEFC has developed a new international standard incorporating the EUDR requirements and a voluntary DDS module, accompanied by a dedicated mention on invoices.
  • FSC is working on FSC Trace (blockchain traceability), an audited regulatory module (FSC Reg) and a Risk Hub (risk assessment tool).
  • Preferred by Nature offers several certification among them a Sustainability Framework, and a specific certification based on EUDR “EUDR indicators”, training, and an open-source toolkit for due diligence.

These systems enable companies to structure their compliance processes with external, and certified support.

  1. Specialized software solutions

Three technology providers presented their platforms:

  • Ekwato: comprehensive platform with automated data collection, dynamic risk analysis, product tracking, DDS export, and mobile app.
  • Supply Logica: a modular tool with mapping, supply chain visualization, direct submission to TRACES, and integrated risk management.
  • Ecosource: a collaborative platform offering chain modeling, geolocation visualization, legality grid validation, batch tracking, and satellite-based deforestation detection.

All emphasized the importance of implementing dynamic, interconnected, and audited systems.

  1. Free public tools (mentioned)

Caroline Duhesme and Alessandra Negri briefly mentioned the existence of several free tools, which will be presented in more detail in another session in the fall:

  • Global Forest Watch (interactive online map)
  • GFW Pro (professional version, free for NGOs and operators)
  • Impact Toolbox (official European Commission platform for detecting deforestation using satellite imagery)

These tools are a useful starting point, particularly for field operators and SMEs.
