12.09.2025

Preferred by Nature announces a major breakthrough for the forestry and timber industry in Central Africa: the organization is in the final stages of accreditation to offer PAFC Congo Basin certification throughout the sub-region.

PBN

The PAFC Congo Basin certification, part of the international PEFC alliance, is a regional system covering Cameroon, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo. It aims to promote sustainable forest management, based on three key pillars:

·  Environmental: conservation of biodiversity and maintenance of ecosystem services,

·  Social: respect for the rights and improvement of the well-being of communities and workers,

·  Economic: support for sustainable forest industries and local development.

As an accredited certification body, Preferred by Nature will soon be able to support forest managers in the PAFC Congo Basin assessment and certification process, with services already deployed in Cameroon, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo.

This development sends a strong signal to the sub-region, strengthening access to certification that is adapted to the local context, credible at the international level, and essential for meeting market expectations in terms of legality, sustainability, and traceability.
