As part of the European Union’s AL-INVEST Verde program, the organizations ATIBT and Tuumben K’ooben have carried out numerous activities in Mexico under the “Zero Deforestation Timber” (“Madera Cero Deforestación”) project.

This project aimed to strengthen the traceability of tropical timber and promote sustainable forestry, in accordance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUD). An ambitious project for the community forests of Quintana Roo and Campeche.

The initiative was based on several activities:

The creation of a digital traceability tool to track timber from its origin through to sale.
Innovation in the production practices of small and medium-sized enterprises in the timber sector of Quintana Roo and Campeche, adapting them to regulatory requirements and the expectations of European and international markets.
Facilitating the marketing of sustainably produced timber from the forests of the Selva Maya to ensure the social, economic, and sustainable development of forest communities in Campeche and Quintana Roo.

This project is nearing completion.

Therefore, ATIBT and Tuumben K’ooben look forward to sharing their experiences with partners, Ejido members, buyers, authorities, and all individuals and organizations involved in the project, whether directly or indirectly.
