Inprobois and Mil Madeiras join ATIBT

At the end of this year, two new members are joining ATIBT. We welcome them!

Founded in 1994, Mil Madeiras Preciosas is a subsidiary of the Precious Woods Group and is located in the municipality of Itacoatiara in the state of Amazonas.

The Precious Woods Group (PW), already a member of ATIBT through the Gabon-based CEB, is a publicly traded company, organized as a holding company. It was created with the aim of proving that it is possible to invest in sustainable projects, with economic viability and socio-environmental responsibility. In 1997, Mil Madeiras became the first indigenous forest management company in Brazil to obtain FSC® certification, adopting its rigorous principles and criteria. Today, Mil Madeiras has already joined another independent forest certification system called CERFLOR, certified by INMETRO and accredited by the PEFC system.

The waste from the Mil Madeiras sawmill provides 40% of the clean energy generated by a thermoelectric plant that supplies the municipality of Itacoatiara, which has about 100,000 inhabitants.

Mil Madeiras wishes to join ATIBT to strengthen its contribution to our association and the Fair&Precious initiative. The company thus becomes a new Fair&Precious certified operator.
