ATIBT is launching My Tropical Timber (MTT), a digital platform designed to help industry professionals quickly find suppliers and the tropical timber species best suited to their needs, based on reliable and structured technical data.

This decision-making tool was developed by ATIBT as part of the Tropical Timber Trade Facility (TTT) project, funded by the BMZ and implemented by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), the German federal agency dedicated to international cooperation for sustainable development. The ConForMa project, “Toward Concerted Management of the Future in the Maya Biosphere Reserve,” also supports the platform.

In response to growing demands for sustainability, legality, and diversification of supply, MTT offers a concrete solution: a tropical timber selection tool that is immediately operational and designed for buyers, specifiers, and timber professionals. Users can identify certified operators using an interactive map. The platform also allows users to:

  • identify species suited to specific technical requirements;
  • discover alternatives among lesser-known timber species (Lesser-Known Timber Species, LKTS), which are often just as high-performing as flagship species and sometimes more readily available;
  • to compare wood properties using clear technical data sheets, backed byCIRAD/Tropix reference data, recognized throughout the industry.

MTT also lists numerous FSC- and/or PEFC-PAFC-certified operators, guaranteeing the legal origin and sustainable management of the wood they market. Demonstration Webinar on May 19, 2026, 10:00–11:00 AMThe ATIBT team is offering a live demonstration of the platform on May 19, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Microsoft Teams. This is an opportunity to explore MTT in real-world conditions, ask your questions live via Slido, and interact with our teams. Free access, open to all, English and French, no prior registration required. Join the webinar

As a true shared tool for the industry, MTT is designed to evolve as its user community grows.
