ATIBT member Olive People has published the second issue of “Olive People Briefing”, its quarterly publication exploring the links between skills development, private sector engagement and sustainable development in Africa. This new issue looks in particular at changing skills needs and new forms of cooperation between companies, training institutions and financing stakeholders.
In a rapidly changing economic environment, companies and their leaders increasingly need not only to anticipate their skills requirements, but also to play an active role in developing those skills. This includes building stronger relationships with universities and training institutions, strengthening organisational capabilities and mobilising skills more effectively to support projects.
These are some of the key issues addressed by Olive People, an ATIBT member specialising in human capital development in Africa, through its quarterly publication, Olive People Briefing.
This second issue explores several trends of particular relevance to companies and organisations operating across the African continent. It examines the growing strategic importance of local content within organisations, as well as changes in the way banks are supporting SMEs.
The briefing also looks at closer engagement between organisations and young technicians, and at the emergence of diaspora talent as a valuable new pool of high-level skills and expertise.
Private sector financing is another topic covered in this issue, with insights into a new European Union financing model for the private sector.
Finally, the publication provides an update on the partnership between Senghor University and Olive People, as part of a broader reflection on how skills can be developed and mobilised across Africa.
Through this publication, Olive People aims to provide decision-makers with useful perspectives to help them anticipate changes in skills and better understand their role in organisational performance and sustainable development.
