After years of delays and revisions, the EUDR now has a firm application date: 30 December 2026 for large and medium-sized operators. With less than seven months to go, the Carrefour is one of the last major industry gatherings before enforcement begins. ATIBT is using the occasion to bring companies and European Competent Authorities into the same room.
On Thursday 4 June, from 9:30 to 11:00 in Canopée 2, ATIBT closes its programme at CIB 2026 with a session that has become urgent: a direct conversation between companies and the European Competent Authorities responsible for enforcing the EU Deforestation Regulation.
The regulation has had a turbulent journey. Following a first postponement and extensive negotiations, Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, published in December 2025, set a new and definitive application date: 30 December 2026 for large and medium-sized operators, and 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises. The revised regulation also introduced new actor categories — including "downstream operators" and "micro or small primary operators" — and adjusted due diligence obligations to reduce the administrative burden on smaller actors while preserving the regulation's core environmental objectives.
For many businesses in the tropical timber supply chain, the practical questions remain very much open. What will compliance actually look like in practice? Which documents will be required? How should due diligence systems be structured? What do Competent Authorities expect regarding geolocation data, traceability and EUDR statements? And how does the new downstream operator category change responsibilities within the supply chain?
This roundtable provides a space to address these questions directly. European Competent Authorities will present their expected enforcement approaches and engage with companies during an extended Q&A. European importers and tropical timber producers will share the operational challenges they have encountered, lessons learned and adaptation strategies in progress. ATIBT will also present practical support tools, including the Timber Trade Portal and new briefings dedicated to EUDR compliance and certification.
The deadline is set. The Carrefour International du Bois is the moment to prepare.
