Comité Forêt thematic day on 8 July in Paris: tools for legal and deforestation-free supply chains

03.07.2026

On 8 July 2026, the Scientific and Technical Committee on Forest (CST Forêt), of which ATIBT is a member, is organising a thematic day in Paris on tools facilitating legal and deforestation-free supply chains, in particular in relation to the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Organised in partnership with the Team Europe Initiative on Deforestation-free Value Chains, the day will exceptionally be held in English, in hybrid format, in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium at the Agence Française de Développement (AFD, Mistral site). The event is open to the public beyond Committee members; registration is mandatory.

The agenda will provide an overview of the existing ecosystem of tools: collecting geolocation data, tracing value chains, estimating the forest footprint of commodities, and assessing deforestation and forest degradation risk. Speakers from the European Forest Institute (EFI), FAO, GIZ, ITC and Cirad will present several tools, including WHIMO, INATrace, TraceFoodChain, WHISP and the Deforestation-Free Trade Gateway.

The day builds on the Committee's ongoing work on deforestation and forest degradation, including its project on preparing private sector actors for EUDR compliance and its work on developing a methodology to measure forest degradation.

ATIBT is a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee on Forest, created in 2019 by the Agence Française de Développement to promote French and francophone expertise in the forest sector. This think tank, mandated by three ministries, reflects a shared conviction: the need to jointly build knowledge and methodological references for public policy.
