ATIBT invites its members and partners to its next Forum, taking place on 22 and 23 April 2027 in London, United Kingdom.
The association’s Annual General Meeting will be held the day before, on 21 April 2027.
The Forum will bring together stakeholders from the tropical timber sector to exchange ideas, share experiences and connect.
Hosting the Forum in the United Kingdom comes at a particular moment. Since Brexit, the country has applied its own timber regulatory framework, the UK Timber Regulation, which is distinct from the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This provides an opportunity for dialogue and comparison between the two frameworks. The British Government has also announced its intention to strengthen the UK Timber Regulation and develop an anti-deforestation framework that is compatible, as far as possible, with international frameworks such as the EUDR. London also remains a leading financial and commercial centre, making it relevant to discussions on carbon finance and investment in sustainable forest management.
The 2024 Antwerp Forum, “Innovation and Sustainability in the Tropical Forest Sector”, focused largely on the EUDR and CITES. For 2027, the proposal is to change the perspective and put markets at the centre. The EUDR, certification, carbon and biodiversity will, of course, remain part of the programme, but as conditions for market access rather than its central theme.
Further information on the venue, programme and registration will be announced soon.
