Organized by the agency Afrique Environnement Plus with the support of COMIFAC and numerous partners, including ATIBT, the Fomadecie Forum sought to place environmental communication at the heart of discussions on efforts to promote the forests of the Congo Basin.
The ATIBT delegation was composed of ATIBT Congo staff member Alain Tsiotsop, office manager, and Armand Diamvinza, technical assistant, as well as Monique Ngoma, administrative assistant, who manned the stand from April 22 to 24, and Nathalie Bouville, Communications Manager, who came especially for the occasion.
An attractive stand was set up, highlighting the Fair&Precious collective brand through posters, leaflets and two video screens. This presence enabled the ATIBT's projects in the Congo Basin to be effectively promoted, in particular the MIB Congo project, and announced the upcoming Racewood event scheduled for July 1 and 2 in Pointe Noire.
Nathalie Bouville was a panelist at round table No. 4 on private sector communication, alongside representatives from FRM and X-Oil Congo. This presentation was an opportunity to introduce ATIBT, the Fair&Precious program, and Fair&Precious's upcoming “True/False” communication campaign, which aims to combat misconceptions about logging in Africa and promote sustainable practices.
“This trade fair was an excellent opportunity to make contact with communicators from the sub-region and to promote ATIBT's environmental communication initiatives,” said Nathalie Bouville.
ATIBT's participation in the fair also provided an opportunity for numerous exchanges with the Executive Secretary and Deputy Executive Secretary of COMIFAC, thereby consolidating the association's institutional relations in the region.
Interviews were given to Afrique Environnement Plus television and Radio Congo, thereby broadening the reach of ATIBT's messages.
On the last day, the delegation visited the headquarters of the Congo Basin Climate Commission in downtown Brazzaville and the headquarters of the Congo Basin Radio and Television (RTBC).
Following this conference, ATIBT plans to strengthen its relations with the media in the sub-region, consider a partnership with Afrique Environnement Plus for the Racewood event, and explore potential collaborations with CIFOR and REPAR parliamentarians.
We commend the work of Agence Afrique Environnement Plus in organizing this event, which we hope is the first of many.
Participation in the Fomadecie Fair is part of ATIBT's overall strategy to improve perceptions of the responsible forestry sector and promote sustainable tropical forest management initiatives through effective and targeted communication.
