New ATIBT Member: SIB Gabon Joins Our Network

27.03.2026

ATIBT is pleased to welcome a new member to its network: Société Industrielle des Bois (SIB Gabon).

@SIB

Based in Libreville, SIB supports forest operators and timber buyers across the Congo Basin in implementing sustainable, responsible, and certified forest management.

More than Standards

Frameworks such as FSC and PEFC / PAFC are essential, but compliance on paper is not enough.

What matters is implementation.

SIB focuses on turning requirements into concrete, workable solutions adapted to real-world constraints.

International Insight, Local Expertise

SIB combines:

  • Deep understanding of Congo Basin ecosystems and field operations
  • Strong familiarity with international standards and market expectations
  • A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach

This dual perspective allows them to align operational realities with evolving global requirements without losing feasibility on the ground.

From Strategy to Implementation

SIB supports partners across the full forest management cycle:

  • Management plans, inventories, and HCV studies
  • Environmental and social assessments
  • Certification preparation and internal audits
  • Training and capacity building

Their approach is resolutely field-oriented: they work alongside teams to ensure that systems are not only compliant, but functional and sustainable over time.

Meeting Evolving Market Expectations

With regulations such as the EUDR, expectations around traceability, legality, and risk management are rapidly increasing.

SIB assists both producers and buyers with due diligence systems, legality verification, and risk analysis - helping them stay compliant and competitive.

Science, Innovation, and Long-Term Vision

In addition to consulting services, SIB Gabon is actively engaged in applied research and innovation. They contribute to the development of practical solutions in:

  • Tropical silviculture and forest regeneration
  • Reforestation programs
  • Biodiversity conservation and ecosystem monitoring

By linking scientific approaches with operational realities, they aim to support continuous improvement in forest management practices.

A Complementary Leadership

SIB is led by a Euro-African team combining the expertise of a forest engineer and an ecologist, with backgrounds spanning forestry operations, applied research, and work with international NGOs.

This combination reflects their approach: pragmatic and solution-oriented, yet firmly rooted in a commitment to environmental integrity and social responsibility.

Looking Forward

ATIBT is pleased to welcome a new member eager to engage with fellow ATIBT members to share experience, build partnerships, and contribute to a tropical forestry sector that delivers economic value while preserving ecosystems and contribute to a tropical forestry sector that delivers economic value while preserving ecosystems and supporting local communities.
