Issue 110 of Économie Gabon+, published in September 2026, gives considerable attention to certification and environmental transition. Two ATIBT members, PAFC Gabon and Green ConsulTech, present their activities and their vision for the sustainable development of the forest and timber sector.
In an interview dedicated to forest certification, Lucas Millet, Coordinator of PAFC/PEFC Congo Basin, discusses the development of the scheme in Gabon, the country where the initiative originated. The regional scheme now also applies in Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo.
He highlights the role of certification in improving forest management, product traceability, biodiversity conservation and consideration for local communities and Indigenous Peoples. With more than 5.5 million hectares of certified forest across the subregion, PAFC Congo Basin also helps companies maintain access to international markets as environmental and regulatory requirements become increasingly stringent.
The magazine also features an interview with Simplice Nteme, Managing Director of Green ConsulTech, who explains how new environmental requirements affect the competitiveness of Gabonese companies and their access to markets and finance.
The interview presents Green ConsulTech’s work supporting companies with regulatory compliance, environmental and social assessments, carbon footprints and certification processes. Several additional articles explore the firm’s support to forestry companies SBK and LUSOLOC in their certification journeys, the role of environmental and social impact assessments
and the importance of forest inventories for better understanding and developing forest resources.
ATIBT is also mentioned in the magazine as one of the international partners with which PAFC Congo Basin works to raise the profile of certification and strengthen support for companies in the sector.
