Environmental regulation 2020 : French government postpones entry into force to 2022

26.02.2021

The French Government presented the details of the environmental regulation for new buildings "RE2020" : a regulation for low-carbon buildings, which promotes the diversity of construction methods and the mix of materials, based on data from the environmental and health data sheets (FDES).

Emmanuelle Wargon, Minister Delegate for the French Minister of Ecological Transition, in charge of Housing, brought together by videoconference on Thursday, February 18, the main representatives of the construction industry to announce the latest decisions concerning the new environmental regulations for new buildings, the RE2020.

The entry into force of the RE2020 will finally be set for January 1, 2022, after publication of the texts by the end of the first half of the year. Keeping a fast implementation schedule, it leaves few months  for the whole sector and in particular for designers and developers to bring their future projects into line with the new requirements.

At the same time, ATIBT's DRYADES project, based on life cycle analyses (LCA) of pre-products and eco-certified wood building products from the Congo Basin, is helping to prepare for this. Since the beginning of February, the DRYADES project has been officially launched and data collection from ATIBT's ecocertified member companies in the Congo Basin has begun. Deliverables are expected in December 2021 for life cycle analyses (LCA) of eco-certified Congo Basin wood pre-products and in June 2021 for environmental declarations of eco-certified Congo Basin wood products.
