04.03.2022

The training of SME actors of the forestry-wood sector of Congo in the integration of the training function takes place in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire since February 21, 2022.

Actors in the forestry-wood sector continue to receive training for better management and preservation of the forests of the Congo Basin within the framework of support-accompaniment missions led by ATIBT and RIFFEAC.

The training of forestry and wood industry actors began in September 2021 in Cameroon and DRC and has been ongoing since January 2022 in Gabon, and is currently taking place in Congo since February 2022.

SMEs and VSEs in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire are benefiting from capacity building in the integration of the training function into their management approaches. The international consultants of the Oréade-Brèche Group arrived in Brazzaville on February 20, 2022 and were able to experience the administrative and professional context of the sector thanks to several meetings held with the support of the ATIBT Technical Assistant (TA) Alain TIOTSOP.

The first results of this training mission in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire reveal :

  • Several meetings with the administrations in charge of forestry, vocational training and SMEs;
  • Enriching exchanges with private sector actors;
  • The existence of a strong interest from the administration for the training approach deployed by ATIBT through the consultants;
  • A dynamic of actors carried by organizations motivated by the improvement of their practices of exploitation and transformation of wood;
  • Recurrent maintenance and sharpening problems;
  • Training needs related to drying, finishing methods, efficient organization of the workshop or work space.
