The forestry and wood industry does not generally attract many people in the Congo Basin region. However, from forestry to wood processing, it offers many professional opportunities.
To meet the growing demand for high-quality finished wood products, as well as the desire of countries to develop more advanced local processing capabilities, the forestry and wood industry offers a wide range of career opportunities.
Following on from the professions of sharpener, electromechanic, social program manager, carpenter, wood designer, and finishing specialist, filmed in Gabon and Cameroon, three new videos have been added to this collection to promote professions in the sector, highlighting the men and women who embody them, and inspiring recruits. Filmed in Cameroon, thanks to the ADEFAC project funded by AFD and led by RIFFEAC and ATIBT, these videos showcase the professions of wood turner, road construction manager, and machine operator.
The forestry and wood sector is often one of the leading sectors in terms of employment (100,000 to 200,000 people in Central Africa). After completing technical studies at CAP, BEP, or a professional level, or pursuing higher education at a BTS, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral level, given the wide variety of professions and profiles, young women and men can choose to pursue this sector with its many opportunities.
