Join ATIBT and a strategic project for forest governance in Côte d'Ivoire

ATIBT, in partnership with the Syndicat des Producteurs Industriels du Bois (SPIB), is recruiting a Technical Assistant as part of the PASSAD-Forêts program.

The PASSAD-Forêts program, which supports the implementation of the FLEGT VPA in Côte d'Ivoire, aims to strengthen the legality and traceability of timber destined for export to the European Union.

  • Location: Abidjan, with regular travel within Côte d'Ivoire
  • Contract duration: 39 months from October 1, 2025

Main tasks:

  • Update the mapping of private sector actors in the forestry and timber industry in Côte d'Ivoire.
  • Conduct an assessment of legality and traceability practices in order to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement a training plan, lead group sessions, and provide individualized coaching to leading companies on the integration of SVL requirements.
  • Organize pilot tests and collect feedback to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of SVL-related tools and procedures.

Required profile:

  • Higher education degree in forest management, environment, or a related field, with a good understanding of FLEGT regulations and the Ivorian legal and forestry framework.
  • At least three years of experience in supporting companies or implementing projects, including at least two years in auditing or sustainable certification in the agricultural or forestry sectors.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and collaboration skills with various stakeholders (companies, administrations, technical partners).
  • Proficiency in office software and presentation tools, as well as a strong ability to work in a team.
