FAO's “Grow the Solution” communication campaign

13.03.2026

Led by FAO, the international communication campaign Grow the Solution aims to reposition forests and sustainable forest products as concrete solutions to the climate, environmental, and socioeconomic crises. These messages fully echo the missions and commitments of ATIBT and the Fair&Precious collective

Faced with global challenges related to climate change, biodiversity loss, and economic development, the Grow the Solution communication campaign launched by FAO proposes a change in perspective: considering forests and sustainable forest products not as a problem, but as an essential part of the solution.

This approach is directly in line with the priorities of ATIBT and the Fair&Precious collective. Sustainable management of tropical forests, promotion of legal and certified wood, and support for responsible forestry business models are central to the solutions needed to preserve forests while contributing to local development and employment.

In particular, the campaign highlights the role of wood as a key renewable material for the transition, capable of replacing materials that emit more greenhouse gases. For ATIBT, this message is central: tropical wood from well-managed, high-performance, and sustainable forests has its place on international markets, provided it is used appropriately—the right material for the right use.

Grow the Solution also reminds us that forest preservation requires viable economic models. In many tropical regions, particularly in the Congo Basin, sustainable forest management is an essential lever for maintaining forest cover, supporting local communities, and preventing the conversion of forests to other uses. Sustainable management and conservation are not opposed to each other: they are complementary.

As a supporter of the Collaborative Partnership on Forest CPF, instigator of the Grow the Solution campaign, ATIBT is fully committed to this international initiative. The campaign provides a recognized and credible framework for relaying science-based messages, overcoming misconceptions about tropical timber, and promoting a balanced vision that reconciles forests, climate, biodiversity, and socioeconomic development.

ATIBT and Fair&Precious will draw on this campaign to inform our communication activities, our exchanges with markets, and our contributions to regulatory debates, both in Europe and internationally.
