ATIBT launches an innovative media partnership with Wood Surfer at Carrefour International du Bois 2026

19.06.2026

Video interviews, digital outreach and increased visibility: a new way to promote sustainable tropical timber and showcase ATIBT members’ initiatives.

During the 2026 Carrefour International du Bois in Nantes, ATIBT launched a new partnership with Wood Surfer, a leading European digital media platform dedicated to the wood sector. This collaboration enabled the production of professional video interviews on a TV studio set located at the heart of the exhibition, creating a new opportunity to highlight initiatives and stakeholders committed to a sustainable timber industry.

This initiative reflects ATIBT’s ambition to strengthen its communication towards markets, specifiers and industry professionals by diversifying communication formats and outreach channels. Through this partnership, several audiovisual contents were produced and shared across both Wood Surfer’s and ATIBT’s communication platforms, helping to raise awareness of certified tropical timber and sustainable forest management.

One of the first interviews focused on Ghana, which recently became the first African country to issue FLEGT licences for timber exports to the European Union.

Recorded on the Wood Surfer TV set, the discussion featured:

  • Dr Richard Gyimah, Executive Director of the Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD) of the Ghana Forestry Commission;
  • Dr Kwame Asamoah Adam, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Timber Millers Organisation (GTMO);
  • Ingrid Hontis, Sustainability Manager at Fedustria.

The speakers discussed the significance of this major milestone for Ghana’s forestry sector, highlighting the country's efforts to strengthen forest governance, traceability and legality assurance systems, while addressing the expectations of European markets in a context of increasing sustainability and due diligence requirements.

Beyond the Ghana case, the interview demonstrated the importance of dialogue between producing countries, industry representatives and buyers to promote legal, sustainable and transparent tropical timber trade.

ATIBT welcomes this first collaboration with Wood Surfer, which opens up new opportunities to showcase members’ initiatives and amplify the voice of the sustainable tropical timber sector to a wider professional audience.
