Sourcing timber from Ghana: share your views

02.10.2026

Does your company import timber from Ghana, has it done so in the past, or is it considering sourcing from Ghana? A short survey invites you to share your priorities ahead of a Ghanaian delegation’s participation in the International Hardwood Conference (IHC) in Antwerp.

Since October 2025, Ghana has been issuing FLEGT licences for timber exports to the European Union, becoming the first African country and the second country globally to reach this milestone. On 6 November 2026, an official high-level Ghanaian delegation will present this achievement at the IHC in Antwerp.

FLEGT licensing marks an important step in ensuring the legality and traceability of Ghanaian timber. Ghana’s legality assurance and traceability systems can also provide useful information to help EU operators meet their EUDR obligations.

However, importers’ expectations go beyond regulatory requirements. To better understand their needs and support preparations for discussions in Antwerp, ATIBT is sharing a survey aimed at European companies that currently source timber from Ghana, have done so in the past, or are considering doing so.

The questionnaire takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. Companies interested in meeting the Ghanaian delegation in Antwerp can also indicate their interest through the survey and may then be contacted to arrange a meeting.
