Recruitment: FAO is seeking a Facilitator for the Congo–European Union Forest Partnership

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is inviting applications for the position of Facilitator for the Congo–European Union Forest Partnership (PF Congo-EU).

Based in Brazzaville, the successful candidate will support the Permanent Secretariat of the Forest Partnership in coordinating, monitoring, and facilitating activities related to the implementation of the partnership’s roadmap. The contract is for a period of up to 11 months, with the possibility of extension.

About the Partnership

The Forest Partnership between the European Union and the Republic of the Congo is an ambitious initiative aimed at reconciling forest preservation, sustainable economic development, the fight against climate change, and biodiversity conservation.

Its roadmap is structured around several priority areas:

  • Improving forest governance and sustainable forest management;
  • Developing sustainable forest value chains;
  • Reducing deforestation and restoring forest ecosystems;
  • Strengthening research and knowledge generation.

The partnership is implemented through ongoing dialogue between Congolese authorities, the European Union, technical and financial partners, the private sector, and civil society.

Main Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the FAO and in direct support of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forest Partnership, the Facilitator will be responsible, in particular, for:

  • Ensuring the operational coordination of the Partnership’s activities;
  • Preparing and following up on meetings of the technical and policy working groups;
  • Facilitating dialogue among the various stakeholders;
  • Contributing to the monitoring of the implementation of the roadmap and its indicators;
  • Support the mobilization of additional funding;
  • Enhance the Partnership’s visibility at the national and international levels;
  • Produce the technical reports and summary documents necessary for steering the partnership.

Desired Profile

Knowledge of the forestry context in the Congo Basin, the VPA-FLEGT processes, as well as climate finance mechanisms and European initiatives such as Global Gateway or Team Europe will be an asset.
