Applications are now open for the Forestry Innovation Prize. This new award from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UNECE/FAO Forests) and the World Food Forum is a fantastic chance for youth-led innovations in sustainable forest management.
Established to mark FAO's 80th anniversary, the prize recognizes inspiring projects, particularly those using new technologies to address today's most pressing environmental challenges.
Innovations are sought in three categories:
- Digital technologies
- Product/process technologies
- Biotechnology
Winning teams will receive up to USD 10,000 in research funding , global visibility , networking opportunities , capacity development , and an invitation to FAO headquarters to present their research at the Transformative Research Challenge 2025 event in October 2025.
The Forestry Innovation Prize is part of the World Food Forum's 2025 Transformative Research Challenge, a global competition that supports young thinkers in turning bold ideas into real-world solutions for transforming agrifood systems.
