ATIBT is pleased to announce the publication of its new technical guide: “Gluing applied to solid wood: a technological lever for African tropical woods.”
This guide was produced by Jean Gérard (CIRAD) and Emmanuel Groutel (WALE) as part of the ASP-Cameroon project with financial support from the European Union. This publication provides an overview of wood reconstitution technologies using gluing and their potential for our industry.
This reference guide presents:
A detailed classification of structural products (finger-jointed solid wood, glued laminated timber, CLT panels) and joinery products (3-ply square timber, panels), with each category defined according to its areas of use.
An analysis of the types of adhesives used (vinyl, polyurethane, EPI, etc.), their physical and chemical characteristics, and their specific conditions of use for tropical woods.
An overview of the quality markings and certifications available in Europe and the associated standards used to guarantee market access.
This book addresses techniques for reconstituting solid wood through gluing to valorise tropical wood by using a “product approach” rather than a “species approach.”
